Jens van ‘t Wout and Sjinkie Knegt were unable to win a medal on Saturday in the 1,500 meters at the World Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Seoul. The two Dutchmen finished in fourth and fifth place respectively.
The 21-year-old Van ‘t Wout was the top favorite for gold in advance, but the reigning European champion was hindered halfway through the race by Canadian Steven Dubois. As a result, he fell back to the rear and was no longer able to compete for a medal in the final phase. A penalty from Dubois put him fourth.
