Police officers rescue families affected by rains in the north of the country
Troops have moved to support the evacuation of people affected by the heavy rains that flooded the main streets.
The agents of the different units of the National Police of Peru (PNP) in the regions of Tumbes, Piura, Lambayeque and La Libertad traveled to the emergency zones to carry out rescue work and help the population affected by the heavy rains and the overflowing of rivers caused by Cyclone Yaku in the north of the country.
Given the heavy rains in Piura, agents from the PNP Km 50 Rural Police Station moved to the El Chimbe sector, located near the Chulucanas-Piura highway, in order to rescue nine families trapped in their homes. Police officers evacuated children and older adults on their shoulders, to put them safely in the adjoining houses.

This was reported by the Civil Defense Office of the El Porvenir-Pelejo district, detailing that the torrential rain that began at 12:30 a.m. on Friday, March 10, also left crops destroyed and animals missing.
Faced with this situation, the work team of the Regional Office for National Security and Defense of the Regional Government of San Martín traveled to the scene of the events to assess the case and define the corresponding prevention and mitigation measures.
