The plane carrying Alejandro Bravo Abarca, the president of the State Steering Committee of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), fell at the Santa Bárbara airport, Pungarabato municipality, while trying to take off.

Preliminary reports mentioned that Mario Moreno Arcos was traveling with Bravo Abarca, who was a candidate for governor of the entity. They would leave for Chilpancingo; however, the plane failed and skidded off the runway.
Those traveling in the aircraft were unharmed.
