Manchester United coach Erik ten Hag was elected manager of the month for February in the Premier League on Friday. It is already the second time this season that the Dutchman has received that prize.
In a league context, United won against Crystal Palace (2-1), Leeds United (0-2) and Leicester City (3-0) in February, while the club only lost points in the home game against Leeds (2-2). Last Sunday’s painful defeat (7-0) against Liverpool only counts for the election for the month of March.
The February player of the month award also went to United. Marcus Rashford won the election for the third time this season. The 25-year-old attacker has revived under Ten Hag and has already scored fourteen league goals.
Ten Hag, who is in his first year at Manchester United, was previously elected manager of the month for September. Mikel Arteta, the coach of league-leader Arsenal, has already received the prize three times this season. The only other winner is Newcastle United coach Eddie Howe.

Koeman won the prize three times
Ten Hag is one of three Dutch trainers who has ever been elected manager of the month in the Premier League. Martin Jol was employed by Tottenham Hotspur in December 2004, the first, followed by Ronald Koeman. The current national coach took the prize as a trainer of Southampton no less than three times: in September 2014, January 2015 and January 2016.
Manchester United will continue the Premier League season on Sunday with a home game against Southampton. Ten Hag’s team is in third place and is well on its way to qualifying for the main tournament of the Champions League, but the national title is out of sight.
Ten Hag already won the League Cup with United this season and is also active in the FA Cup and the Europa League. On Thursday, the twenty-time national champion won the first leg in the eighth finals of the Europa League 4-1 against Real Betis.
