The provincial elections will take place on 15 March. Seventeen parties have put themselves forward for election in the province of Flevoland. In this overview you will find some spearheads per party.
About the elections
50PLUS
50PLUS wants part of the yield of sustainable energy in the province to flow back to the Flevolanders. The party is also concerned about the exodus of Flevoland villages. That is why 50PLUS wants to keep the villages easily accessible. One possibility is to allow the inhabitants of villages to use public transport free of charge. 50PLUS is also against the growth ambitions of Lelystad Airport and for the construction of the Lelylijn. BBB
BBB wants to make Flevoland attractive to universities and colleges. For example, the party does not want residents to have to leave their province to study. The party is in favor of the construction of the Lely line between Amsterdam and Groningen, with a station in Emmeloord. BBB also wants to tackle a number of provincial roads. BVNL
BVNL does not want a new city next to Almere. Instead, the party sees more in expanding Almere. The party does not want to further burden air traffic and supports the opening of Lelystad Airport. BVNL is against the construction of wind turbines and solar panels on agricultural land. The party also sees nothing in a nuclear power plant in Flevoland. CDA
The CDA wants a provincial fund to make Flevoland households more sustainable. The party does not want large-scale solar or wind farms. The party believes that Flevoland already does enough in the field of wind and would rather have solar panels on roofs than on agricultural land. election program
Christian Union
The ChristenUnie believes that the province should take the lead in realizing enough new homes: the province takes the initiative, the municipality implements. The party mainly wants to reuse vacant buildings. Together with farmers and agricultural organizations, the party wants to offer protection to endangered meadow birds. D66
D66 supports the three major public transport projects in Flevoland: the construction of the Lelylijn, the IJmeerlijn and an express train to Utrecht. The party prefers to invest in public transport projects rather than roads and motorways. The party believes that Flevoland can become the first climate-neutral province in the Netherlands, partly due to its location, layout and available space. D66 is divided on whether Lelystad Airport should expand. FVD
FVD wants to widen the A6 and develop the N50 between Emmeloord and the Hattemerbroek interchange into an A-road. The party is critical of the construction of the Lelylijn. GreenLeft
GroenLinks wants Flevoland to be energy neutral by 2030 and fossil free by 2050. The party wants to do this by making financial arrangements for people with less money and by obliging companies to take energy-saving measures. The party is against Lelystad Airport, because the airport is at the expense of the climate and the living pleasure of Flevolanders. GroenLinks also believes that the airport is not necessary for the economic development of the province. GroenLinks also wants care in Flevoland to be more accessible. JA21
JA21 sees nothing in solar and wind energy. The party does want a nuclear power station at the Ketelmeer. The party wants to see whether the residual heat from such a plant can be used for the province. The party is also in favor of a number of infrastructure projects, such as widening the A6, an intercity between Lelystad and Utrecht and the construction of the Lely line and the IJmeer connection. Powerful Flevoland
Powerful Flevoland wants the province to commit itself to the construction of the Lely line with stations in Emmeloord, Heerenveen and Drachten. The party also wants a tunnel for the Ketelbrug. The party is in favor of a new city (Eemvallei Stad) in the context of housing. The party wants to realize 100,000 affordable homes in the province as quickly as possible. Labor Party
The PvdA attaches great importance to the energy transition, but wants to share the costs fairly. The party wants to do this, for example, by helping people with less money to do so. The party also believes that the Lely Line is crucial for the connection between the Randstad and the Northern Netherlands. As far as the PvdA is concerned, preservation of Lelystad Airport is not a necessary goal. The party does think the airport is necessary to relieve Schiphol and the surrounding area. PvdD
The PvdD wants to limit the establishment and expansion of fish farms. Instead, the party wants to focus on plant-based food from the sea. The party wants to connect the Oostvaardersplassen with the Gelderse Veluwe. The party also wants hunting in the Oostvaardersplassen to be banned. PVP
The PVV wants to protect local entrepreneurs, such as fishermen and farmers. The party is against buying out these types of companies to meet the nitrogen rules. The party is in favor of tunneling the A6 at Ketelmeer. The party considers this important for the connection with the northern provinces, among other things. SGP
In the context of animal welfare, the SGP wants realistic policy regarding the Oostvaardersplassen. The party wants to maintain the animal population according to the carrying capacity of the area. The party also wants enough space for fishing on the IJsselmeer. In addition, subsidies must be used to make the Flevoland fleet more sustainable. SP
The SP wants to set up a provincial emergency fund from which social organizations, such as food banks, emergency shelters, sports clubs and local businesses, can draw in times of crisis. The party also wants to stimulate education in the province by establishing a university in Flevoland. The party also wants a higher professional education institution in Lelystad. Strong Local Flevoland
The party wants to support young entrepreneurs in the fishing and agricultural sector. The party is also against the buy-out of family businesses in the fishing and agricultural sector. VVD
The VVD is against the construction of new wind farms in Flevoland, because the party believes that the province already has enough. Solar panels should be placed on roofs as much as possible, the party believes. In the context of employment, the VVD wants to move the Ministry of Defense to Flevoland.
