“The judiciary got on its knees”: Alejandro Armenta launched himself against the restitution of Edmundo Jacobo at the INE

The president of the Board of Directors of the Senate of the Republic, Alejandro Armenta Mier, expressed his rejection of the temporary reinstatement of the Executive Secretary of the National Electoral Institute (INE), Edmundo Jacobo.

And it is that, on March 9, the resolution obtained from the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judicial Power (TEPJF) was announced, where a provisional suspension was granted to the transitory article 17 of the electoral “Plan B”.

In this regard, the also militant of Morena, Armenta Mier, described as “shameful” the average granted unanimously in the Ninth Collegiate Court on Administrative Matters.

“I am ashamed that the judiciary is on its knees, we must remember that this subject was the one who mocked the indigenous community of our country,” he said during his press conference.

The measure against transitory Article 17 is temporary, and could be challenged; however, it is a point in favor of the INE, since the body took legal measures in favor of Edmundo Jacobo to avoid his dismissal.

And it is that for the institution in charge of monitoring the electoral processes, the departure of the official – who has worked in the organization for more than a decade – incurred in measures that violated the autonomy of the INE.

“The authority endorses its commitment to comply with the Law; However, this Decree is unconstitutional as it invades the powers of the electoral authority and contravenes rights protected by the Constitution”, he pronounced in a press release.

The return of Edmundo Jacobo to his functions is part of the “battle” undertaken by the National Electoral Institute against the series of modifications that came into force on March 2, the day Plan B was published in the Official Gazette. of the Federation (DOF).
