Some 3.7 tonnes of hashish were seized aboard a speedboat during an operation in international waters south of Portugal, which led to the arrest of two Spaniards and two Moroccans, the Authority announced on Wednesday. National Navy (AMN).
The arrests of the four suspected traffickers took place during a surveillance operation carried out by the Portuguese Navy, the Maritime Police and the Air Force, on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, the AMN said in a press release. .
The boat, which was carrying “106 bales of hashish corresponding to approximately 3.7 tons”, was boarded after being spotted by an Air Force plane, according to the Maritime Authority.
The four suspects, as well as the boat and the drugs, were handed over to the Judicial Police who opened an investigation.
