AZ starts on Tuesday evening with Jordy Clasie in the away game with Lazio in the eighth finals of the Conference League. The 31-year-old midfielder returns from a suspension in Rome.
Clasie recently received his fifth yellow card of the Eredivisie season and was therefore suspended for last Friday’s away match against Vitesse (0-1 win). He was replaced in Arnhem by Djordje Mihailovic, who is back on the bench in Rome.
Trainer Pascal Jansen also opts for his usual basic eleven. Eighteen-year-old Wouter Goes plays the first European match in his career against Lazio. Before the winter break, the central defender was not yet part of AZ’s main force.
At Lazio, the current number three in Serie A, captain and top scorer Ciro Immobile is definitely absent. The veteran has a muscle injury.
The 33-year-old Immobile is replaced at the point of the vanguard by Felipe Anderson, who is normally the right winger at Lazio. Former FC Barcelona striker Pedro is also kicking off.
The first match between Lazio and AZ in the eighth finals of the Conference League starts at 6.45 pm in Stadio Olimpico. The return is on Thursday 16 March in Alkmaar. The first leg will already be played on Tuesday, because AS Roma will also play at home in the Europa League on Thursday.
