The fall of a piece of roof at the Harvard train station was about to cause a tragedy last Wednesday, March 1, in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
The events were recorded through a security camera that showed how the passengers had just gotten off the train just before the collapse. Some users were on the stairs when a soundproofing panel collapsed.
Another passenger froze as the ceiling dropped without warning just inches in front of her. The spectators on the platform looked back to see what was wrong. Nobody was hurt in the incident.
The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA, for its acronym in English), said on its Twitter account that engineers inspected the panels and removed any that represented a safety problem, while pointing out that water infiltration could have caused the accident.
