The statement from the parents of the Argentine twins who fell from a building in Barcelona
Just over a week after the tragedy in which 12-year-old Argentine twins fell from the third floor of a building in Barcelona —one died and the other was hospitalized in serious condition— was recorded, the family of the minors issued a statement to through which they referred to the event for the first time. The text was disseminated through various media in Spain.
“The family wants to thank all the media, both written and audiovisual, for their professional work in echoing and disclosing to society the tragedy they are suffering at the moment,” the document states in its first lines. “However, the legitimate zeal for information has caused, on occasions, untrue, unfounded and even contradictory news to have been published, nourished by sources that are not always original,” they continued.

“This avalanche in the media, assuming facts that do not conform to reality, can cause uncomfortable situations: generating more pain for the family; contaminating the investigation carried out by the police and, finally, politicizing the tragedy”, added the parents of the minors.
In this sense, they advanced: “To avoid more pain for the family, to allow police and justice professionals to carry out their investigation without contaminating peripheral elements, so as not to turn this tragedy into a media ‘circus’ or flag politician of any color and, above all, to respect the memory, privacy and dignity of the minors and their family, henceforth and for the moment no statements will be made to the press”.
“As soon as it is decided to make a statement, it will be carried out through a PRESS RELEASE expressed through the means that the family deems appropriate,” the parents of the minors emphasized in the document released. Consequently, any subsequent statement made by a person or persons who have not been expressly authorized by the family must be considered unreliable and, of course, not proven to be true.”

Leila remains hospitalized in a coma at the Parc Taulí hospital in the city of Sabadell
It is worth remembering that in the midst of a strong commotion, the grandparents of the Argentine twins traveled to Spain last Friday and met with the family. Leila, the only one of the sisters who survived, was still admitted to the Parc Taulí hospital in the city of Sabadell. Alana, who was in transition of a change of gender identity and asked to be named as Iván -according to local media-, decided to jump with her sister from the balcony of her house and jump off the cliff: she died on the spot, while that Leila suffered multiple injuries and fractures to her body.
