Follow the rise of rock band Daisy Jones and The Six through the Los Angeles music scene of the 1970s, in their quest for status as a global icon.
“Their music made them famous… their separation made them legends,” Prime Video describes the musical and dramatic series Everybody Loves Daisy Jones (Daisy Jones and The Six), which premiered this Friday, March 3.

Directed by Niki Caro and James Ponsoldt, it is inspired by the New York Times bestseller and Taylor Jenkins Reid novel of the same name, and stars Riley Keough (Mad Max: Fury Road), Sam Claflin (The Book of Love) and Camila Morrone (Wish to kill). With so few hours of arrival on the small screen, many are already watching it.

The drama centers on a 1970s rock band, from its rise in Los Angeles to becoming one of the most famous musical groups in the world, exploring why they broke up in their heyday. The story is presented in the form of a mockumentary and follows the members of it as they recount their journey in their own words.

Led by two energetic and bright souls, Daisy Jones and Billy Dunne, the group rose from obscurity to stardom. However, after a sold-out concert at Chicago’s Soldier Field, they called it quits. Now, many years later, the boys have agreed to reveal the truth. This is the story of how an iconic band fell apart at the height of their career.

The real life band that inspired this story was Fleetwood Mac, according to the author herself. In a post to Hello Sunshine in 2019, Reid revealed seeing the band perform the song ‘Landslide’ during their 1997 reunion show, and there he noticed the spark between Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham (main members).

“Imagine my surprise when my mother later explained that although they had once dated, they were no longer together,” she stressed. “This completely defied logic for me.” So, that led her to write the respective story.

What the Critics of Everybody Loves Daisy Jones Are Saying
Richard Roeper of the Chicago Sun-Times called it utterly riveting, adding that “the performances are solid, the songs are catchy, and it harkens back to the good old days of rock.” AV Club’s Mary Kate Carr said: “The love story that stars her is so compelling that viewers won’t want to miss a moment. Like the fictional group she is a part of, Everybody Loves Daisy Jones is destined to be a hit with audiences.”
Daniel D’Addario of Variety called it “a failed but riveting adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel of the same name,” and Jasper Rees of Telegraph called it “a sweet but sterilized take on ’70s rock excess.” . Like them, many are having to do with the recently launched Prime Video production.

Although the band in Everybody Loves Daisy Jones is not real, the cast of the miniseries prepared as if they were. All the actors sing and play their instruments on the show. For example, Claflin had to learn to sing and play the guitar, according to Vanity Fair.
