The Amsterdam police are looking for a scooter driver who fled after a collision in which a cyclist died.
The victim is a 73-year-old man. The accident took place on Rembrandtplein just before midnight last night. The police are still investigating how the accident could have occurred and from which direction the two road users came, a spokesperson reports to NOS. The driver is currently suspected of leaving the scene of an accident.
An air ambulance was also called and the victim was resuscitated, but help was of no avail.
Due to the accident, public transport in the vicinity of Rembrandtplein was diverted. Two tram lines and two night bus lines were temporarily hindered as a result.
