According to a study by the Research, Studies, Evaluation and Statistics Department (DREES), women with disabilities are particularly exposed to violence (1). They are thus twice as likely as women without disabilities to have suffered sexual violence.
Victims with disabilities are twice as often attacked at home or near their place of residence and know their attacker more frequently than others.
Although they more often report violence that has caused significant physical and psychological damage, only one out of four disabled victims went to the police station or the gendarmerie after suffering an attack. Among them, two thirds filed a complaint.
