Tottenham Hotspur has pushed the floundering Chelsea deeper into the concerns on Sunday. The Londoners were 2-0 too strong for Hakim Ziyech’s team, who escaped a red card in the final phase of the first half after chaotic minutes.
After a goalless first half, the home fans were treated to a goal immediately after the break. Goalkeeper Kepa couldn’t control a long shot and Chelsea didn’t clear the ball properly afterwards. Oliver Skipp took advantage and saw his long shot go off the underside of the crossbar into the goal.
Ten minutes before the end, Harry Kane put an end to all tension. The striker shot in at the far post after Eric Dier extended a corner with his head. Kane already signed for his eighteenth league goal of the season. He still has nine to make up for Premier League top scorer Erling Haaland.
The most remarkable moment of the match took place before the break. The first half ended with chaotic minutes, in which Ziyech and referee Stuart Attwell claimed a leading role. Ziyech pushed Emerson Royal in an altercation between players from both teams. He also lightly touched the face of the Tottenham Hotspur defender, who went to the ground groaning.
It took Attwell minutes to decide which cards to give to whom. In the end, Kai Havertz and Emerson got yellow and Ziyech had to pay for his action with a red card. The Moroccan international walked off the field shaking his head, but that was too premature. The VAR called the referee to the screen along the pitch. Attwell then decided to withdraw the red card and give Ziyech yellow.

Pressure on Chelsea coach Potter is increasing considerably
In the 62nd minute, Ziyech left the field, but that is because he was replaced by Denis Zakaria. Former PSV striker Noni Madueke sat on the bench at Chelsea for the entire match and the same goes for Arnaut Danjuma at Tottenham.
The defeat at Tottenham further increases the pressure on manager Graham Potter. Chelsea has now lost six official matches in a row and occupies tenth place in the Premier League, fourteen points behind number four Tottenham. Only the top four teams take a direct Champions League ticket.
Chelsea not only disappoints in their own country, but is also heading for elimination in Europe. The first leg with Borussia Dortmund in the eighth finals of the Champions League was lost 1-0 this week. The return is March 7 at Stamford Bridge.
