This event not only awards $500,000 in prizes for the best teams, but also DPC points that will help organizations qualify for ‘The International’, an event that will take place in the city of Seattle, United States.
Now, after several days of intense competition, the teams that qualified for the next round are already known. The first four places in each group will go directly to the ‘Upper Bracket’, while the fifth and sixth places will be placed in the ‘Lower Bracket’.

The event has 2 stages, the group stage which is online from the bootcamps set up at the concentration hotel in San Isidro (February 22-26) and the playoffs.

It is worth mentioning that the first teams that qualified for the next round of the Lima Major 2023 were Team Liquid and Entity, both representatives of the European region, considered one of the best in the tournament.
Likewise, to the surprise of more than one, the first to be eliminated were EHOME and Knights, teams that belong to China, the country that has the largest number of players in the tournament, followed by Russia and finally Peru.
Today, February 26, the Evil Geniuses team, made up of Peruvian players and a Bolivian, managed to win 2-0 against Team SoloMid (TSM), and also secured a place in the next round. In this group A, in addition to Team Spirti, Gaimin Gladiators and Talon Sports also qualified. In group B, Team Liquid, Entity and Shopify Rebellion are classified so far.
The other Peruvian team, Beastcoast, were defeated 2-0 by Shopify Rebellion and were unable to qualify directly for the second round, being tied for fourth place in group B with Team Aster. So both teams had to play one last tiebreaker match to see who gets into the Upper Bracket and who falls to the Lower Bracket.
It must be remembered that the entire group stage of the tournament was played virtually. The teams gathered at a hotel in San Isidro, where the games were played simultaneously.
Once this stage is completed, the players will face each other in person and with the public. The playoffs will take place at Arena 1 in San Miguel, located on the Costa Verde in Lima.

The Lima Major 2023 is the first international eSports event to be held in Peru. However, once it is over, this event will be taken to other countries, although it will not be within South America.
The second country to host the Dota 2 Major will be Berlin, Germany. Also, the third country to host this competition will be Bali, Indonesia.
