Buckingham Palace is considering officially naming Camilla as queen from now on. Her current title is queen consort. This title refers to the ‘wife of a reigning king’. According to various British media, including the newspaper The Telegraph, the change could happen after Charles’s coronation in early May.
A first hint of the upcoming change appeared this week. King Charles’s wife announced a name change for one of her charities.
Her organization The Reading Room is now known as The Queen’s Reading Room, so without consort in the name.
Camilla will also be crowned at the coronation on May 6 at Westminster Abbey. The Queen Consort will wear Queen Mary’s crown on that day.
