The electoral board of the Frente de Todos began to move in the last hours. While in the ruling party they wait for Alberto Fernández to define whether or not he is going for re-election, two of the leaders who appear on the list of pre-candidates began to give clearer signs of their future in these elections.
On Tuesday, the Argentine ambassador to Brazil, Daniel Scioli, published an open letter in which he launched himself as a candidate for president without doing so explicitly. He said without saying. A format that the former motorboater has learned to use over the years and that protects him from the cross accusations that always appear in Peronism.
“Here I am. I am the usual Daniel, with more faith and hope than ever. They count on me. I’m counting on you ”, he launched as a catchphrase in a letter that sought to generate an impact in the world of politics. Those who live immersed in this microclimate understood Scioli’s message well. He is going to start touring the country and he is going to try to solidify his candidacy as the days go by.
As a campaign message, the former governor highlighted his qualities. “My essence is to reconcile, decompress and reach agreements that make it possible to consolidate growth with stability and social inclusion, with predictability and confidence,” he said. And in a line that seeks to impact the internal life of the Frente de Todos, he assured: “Loyalty will continue to be my road map.”
The Minister of the Interior, Eduardo “Wado” de Pedro is the candidate of Kirchnerism
Scioli is determined to compete in the PASO del Frente de Todos. He would not do it alone if Alberto Fernández is in that inmate. He is one of those who understands, as the Kirchnerism leaders have expressed in recent days, that he cannot compete with the President in an internal one.
On the other hand, he is willing to compete, eventually, with Sergio Massa or Eduardo “Wado” de Pedro, the other proper names that appear on the list of pre-candidates, although neither of them has publicly expressed their electoral intentions. Until now, no leader had shown his desire as Scioli did in the message he shared a few days ago.
The Head of State gave him the green light to walk and tour the country. Meanwhile, he defines if he has the necessary conditions to face the challenge of re-election. Scioli is clear about that message and is moving forward with a defined course. Through his function as ambassador, he will be able to show himself and move around different sectors of the country, a point in favor of his electoral strategy.
This weekend he will return to Brasilia to deepen the integration work with the Lula da Silva government. Especially with the ministries with which she has a link through the embassy. On March 2, he will receive the governor of Misiones, Oscar Herrera Ahuad, with whom he will travel to Rio Grande do Sul, the state of Brazil that concentrates the largest amount of Argentine exports.

Two days later, he will cross the border and settle in San Juan to be present at the Harvest Festival together with a group of Brazilian businessmen who intend to invest in the wine business.
In the coming months Scioli will have that rhythm of travel. From one side of the border to the other, which will allow it to have direct links with the governors and land with investors in the provinces. A good way to preserve his function, but move in an electoral key at this stage of electoral definitions.
At this time, the former governor of Buenos Aires is surrounded by leaders and former officials from the stage of his administration. Political consultations are made to the phones of the former Buenos Aires Chief of Staff Alberto Pérez; the former head of Autopistas de Buenos Aires and current president of Corredores Viales, Gonzalo Atanasof; and the former Minister of Labor of the province Oscar Cuartango.
He also spoke regularly with former provincial senator Alberto De Fazio; the economist Javier Milano, who worked in the General Secretariat and in the 2015 campaign as an adviser to the then governor, and with Camila Cabral, an official who works on the day-to-day of her agenda at the Embassy of Brazil.
Edward “Wado” of Peter
Scioli is clear that the letter he published on his social networks helped him move the electoral board, that he is talked about in political circles, that his phone starts ringing and it is not because of his role in Brazil. Now he must wait for his rivals on the road to the presidency to define the steps to follow. The other name that moved the electoral shelf of Peronism was Eduardo “Wado” de Pedro, who has been flirting for a long time with the possibility of being a candidate for president in this year’s elections. “He’s going to do what they ask him to do. And that was not defined ”, they indicated in the ranks of La Cámpora, where verticality is an impossible commandment to corrupt.
De Pedro will take a greater role as long as Cristina Kirchner gives him the green light to move forward. Until now he has moved as a pre-candidate, traveling with governors abroad or appearing in meetings with the main businessmen of the country, always resisted in the heart of Kirchnerism.
From Pedro he already received the public support of a governor. Ricardo Quintela from Rioja assured last weekend that if Alberto Fernández and Cristina Kirchner do not show up, “Wado is the one with the best chances.” He also told that he is the minister who has the best link with the PJ governors. A pat on the back that came from the north.
In the K camp they believe that the definitions cannot go beyond the month of April, since the elections begin in May in the provinces that have the highest volume in electoral terms. So, it is necessary to generate certainty and order Peronism while the provincial elections are taking place.
“Wado” does not publish anything related to a possible candidacy on his personal social networks. But she does it through a parallel path. The account “La Remisería de la Rosada”, as the press office of the Interior Ministry is nicknamed, and which is managed by officials who work in that area, is in charge of publications referring to the electoral level.
The posts usually have sarcasm and irony. Like Daniel Scioli in his public letter, De Pedro says without saying. In one of the latest publications there is a photo of the Minister of the Interior from behind and with the sunset in the background. A typical image of electoral campaigns. Next to the photo appears a text with a double meaning: “Look what photon we hit. I would go with a phrase like… ‘There is a future’ or something like that. Suggestions welcome.”
The game of phrases and concepts is the communication letter that they decided to use in De Pedro’s environment, which avoids giving any kind of more concrete signal about his electoral future. Another message from the “La Remisería” account shows a video of a plane carrying an Argentine flag with the phrase “It’s coming… Wado.”
That video was accompanied by another phrase where a message to the libertarian Javier Miley is mixed with a touch of humor to reduce credibility on purpose. “The small plane that runs along the coast disturbing “La Casta” Clarification: Reception on your visit to MDQ. Do not curl your hair”, says the message of the campaign that never started but is already active.
