Prince Andrew, Queen Elizabeth’s son embroiled in an alleged sexual assault scandal, is more popular in the eyes of the American public than the royal couple, according to a Newsweek poll.
Prince Harry’s popularity in the United States has plunged 48 points since December. Meghan’s faded by 40 points, giving them a score of -10 for the former and -17 for the latter. Last month, Harry had a -7 and Meghan had a -13.
Prince Andrew, who has a score of -2, does not really arouse passions in the United States, according to Newsweek, which specifies that 45% of respondents to its poll said that the subject made them completely indifferent.
On Harry’s side, this proportion rises to 25% and 28% for Meghan.
This drop in popularity could be linked to all the attention the couple is getting. In December, the couple aired their story in a Netflix series. A month later, Harry published his book The Substitute.
The poll was taken ahead of controversy surrounding the South Park show which mocked the couple in their quest for intimacy. Meghan Markle was reportedly “shocked” by the episode.
