The 56-year-old man has already been sentenced to 30 years in prison in cases of sexual abuse of minors.
However, this sentence will be served at the same time as the previous one, which will lengthen his stay behind bars by only one year.
“If he survives by the end of his sentence, he will be over 80 years old,” pleaded his lawyer, who pointed out that his first conviction already represented a life sentence for his client.
The lawsuit was organized around the release of a controversial “sex tape” in which R. Kelly was seen sexually assaulting and urinating on a teenage girl. The survivor, now in her 30s, said R. Kelly forced her to have sex with him more than 100 times. He had also taught her to lie about the nature of their relationship.
The singer had been acquitted for the first time in 2008 in relation to this story, despite the testimonies which confirmed the age of the victim.
