A family’s beach farewell to their terminally ill dog

A family took their sick dog to a beach in Manzanillo, Mexico, to say goodbye, and the video went viral on social media. The pet was affected by a terminal chronic mitral valve disease and she had her last moment in a place where she liked to walk.

The story of 11-year-old “Tunka” was shared by the @paam_patitas account on TikTok and YouTube. Her family used to take the dog to the beach and that is why they decided that she should take her last breath there (they traveled from Mexico City to Guadalajara).

“We say goodbye to our 11-year-old dog in her favorite place, the sea,” they wrote in the video, implying that this would have been the pet’s wish.

Before this idea, the family went to consult a cardiologist, who notified them that unfortunately “Tunka” was in its final stage, because not even a transplant would change the degenerative health problem. In that sense, the dog no longer ate, walked or could drink water or breathe well.

Because of the painting, they decided to put her to sleep on the beach, so she could feel the sand and hear the sound of the sea. In the end, the veterinary doctor approaches her to give her the injection and thus end her suffering, while her family surrounded her between tears and caresses.

So far, the video has more than two million views, more than 230,000 “likes” and thousands of comments from users who expressed their excitement at going through a similar situation.
