A testimony revealed by the Sunday newspaper Panorama shed more light on what would have happened on December 7, 2022, when former President Pedro Castillo decided to read the message to the Nation that would end in a failed coup d’état. The eyes were always on the former Premier Betssy Chávez and with this new statement it would be confirmed that she was aware of what was going to happen.

Earlier, Parliament approved the final report that recommends constitutionally accusing former president Pedro Castillo and his two former ministers Juan Silva and Geiner Alvarado for the alleged commission of the crimes of aggravated criminal organization, influence peddling, and collusion.
According to the witness cited in the report, the former head of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) assured her that she would draw up a supreme decree after hearing Castillo finish reading the message. With what was announced by the ex-president, at that time, Congress was going to be dissolved, an emergency government established and the Public Ministry, the Judiciary, the Constitutional Court and the Constitutional Court restructured.
“He tells me that they are going to restructure the State, that this is going to be soon, that they are going to make many changes, that it is not possible to continue governing with this political class. I ask her when and she tells me: ‘Right now I have to issue the supreme decree,’” the eyewitness declared to the Prosecutor’s Office.
