FC Twente suffered another defeat in the Eredivisie on Sunday after twelve games. The formation of coach Ron Jans lost 2-0 at Go Ahead Eagles. The game was stopped for more than twenty minutes due to misconduct by supporters.
Twente did not recover from a bad start in Deventer. Philippe Rommens scored the opening goal on behalf of Go Ahead after six minutes. After fifteen minutes, Isac Lidberg already put the final score on the scoreboard.
The game in De Adelaarshorst was halted for almost half an hour in the first half due to disturbances. Fireworks were thrown from the section first, followed a little later by chairs. Those chairs ended up both on the field and in the section with the supporters of Go Ahead. Referee Ingmar Oostrom decided to stop the game.
Twente last lost in the Eredivisie in October last year. The Tukkers then lost 2-0 to Feyenoord. Twente was eliminated by Ajax in the KNVB Cup (0-1) on February 9.
Due to the defeat, number five Twente loses the connection with the top of the Eredivisie. The gap with leader Feyenoord has risen to nine points. Go Ahead, which is eleventh, is now eight points away from the relegation zone due to the victory.
