Hopes do not wane a Turkey thirteen days after the devastating earthquake, but sometimes disappointment is inevitable. Rescue teams have found parents and a son alive under the rubble, but the latter, aged twelve, later died. In total there are already more than 43,000 deaths from the earthquake.
Those affected try to recover some normality. The authorities have set up tent schools for children whose centers have been destroyed. Social services and volunteers are organizing the activities. There are some 84,000 buildings in the country with significant damage from the quake.
In Syria, the situation is no better, although on Friday 140 trucks with urgent humanitarian aid managed to enter the area controlled by the rebels, in the northwest of the country. Before the earthquake, almost all of that aid for almost four million people who live in the area came through a single point. Damascus has enabled the UN two more steps as a result of the tremor.
