Ex-policeman sentenced to life for dozens of rapes
A former London policeman was sentenced Tuesday, February 7 to life imprisonment with a security period of thirty years for dozens of rapes and sexual assaults on twelve women. David Carrick, 48, was prosecuted for at least 85 offenses, including 48 rapes, facts which occurred between 2003 and 2020 while he was a police officer. This affair has aggravated the crisis of confidence that Scotland Yard is going through.

Crackdown in the middle of Chinese prostitution
Twenty-five people were arrested on Tuesday, February 7 in Belgium as part of an investigation targeting the middle of Chinese prostitution and a network with ramifications in Spain. A total of 26 searches were carried out by the Belgian police in this operation which also made it possible to discover “more than 20 alleged victims”, all women of Chinese origin. The vast majority of suspects are also from China.

No new variant after “zero Covid”
No new variant of Covid-19 has emerged in Beijing in the weeks following the end of the “zero Covid” policy decided by China at the end of last year, according to a study published on Tuesday February 7 in the journal The Lancet. China has seen an explosion of infections after lifting its strict health measures from early December, raising fears that the world’s most populous country could become a breeding ground for new, more transmissible or more serious strains. Many countries have imposed new restrictions on travelers from China, angering Beijing.
