After a series of videos came to light in which members of the Movimiento Regeneración Nacional (Morena) party were caught receiving wads of money, the reactions did not wait.

Such is the case of the former president of Mexico, Vicente Fox Quesada, who on the morning of February 8 launched a series of acid comments against the party founded by the current federal president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO).

And it is that, according to what has been indicated, the videos released by N+ (after an investigation by the journalist Fátima Monterrosa) were captured weeks before the state elections will take place, in which the standard bearer for Morena, Layda Sansores, took the victory.

In the clips you can see the current Secretary of Education of Campeche, Raúl Pozos Lanz; to the head of the offices of the Governor Layda Sansores, Armando Toledo Jamit and the senator of Morena, Rocía Abreu Artiñano, receiving large sums of cash.

It is presumed that Raúl Pozos —formerly a member of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) and today a member of Morena— would have received at least four bundles of 500-peso bills in May 2021, that is, just a few weeks before the start of the elections in Campeche.

Meanwhile, in the case of Senator Abreu Artiñano, it was revealed that, on at least two occasions in 2021 and prior to election day, she would have received wads of money.

Regarding the videos, presumably they come from the surveillance circuit of the attached office of the State Government Secretariat, located on the fourth floor of the State Palace.

In this sense, former President Vicente Fox shared what was expressed by members of the right-wing party of which he formed, National Action (PAN): the “video thefts of Campeche officials shake” the self-styled Fourth Transformation (4T).

It should be added that in this thread, since last Tuesday, members of the Blue and Whites launched against the cherry party, such is the case of Senator Kenia López Rabadán who wrote:

“In Morena they are addicted to cash, to yellow envelopes, now to paper bags full of illegal money. They are corrupt and cynical, that’s why in 2024 they’re leaving!” she wrote on his Twitter account.

Current officials from Campeche were recorded at the time of receiving millions in cash, presumably for the campaign of Layda Sansores for the governorship of that state, according to a report by N.

Given the controversy unleashed, Layda Sansores has already spoken about it. On the evening of February 7, the local president spoke on Martes del Jaguar, describing the accusations as “montage”, for which she accused Televisa of “lend” to such practices.

Together with Armando Toledo Jamit, the governor of Campeche explained why her team had such a large amount of money on their hands. It would be money corresponding to resources for budget extensions and not to diversion of resources, as expressed in various media, and she assured that due to the remoteness of banks in rural areas, it is customary to pay in cash.

It should be remembered that hours before the declarations of the local president, the President of the Republic, Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), dismissed the accusations.

During the morning conference on Tuesday, the Chief Executive assured that the dissemination of said recordings would be part of an attempt to harm the image and credibility of the members of Morena. Since the opposition wing would be interested in “matching” her government project.

“There is certainly a lot of interest in wanting to match us. It’s throwing crap into the fan. That is to say ‘they are all equal’. We have already suffered from that and more so when there are corruption scandals in the conservative bloc ”, she cut short.
