The world’s eyes were on Turkey, as well as surrounding areas such as Syria, Lebanon, Cyprus and Iraq, due to the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that shook the earth. The Mexican authorities confirmed the presence, without having suffered the ravages of the natural disaster, of compatriots in that country. However, one of the most mentioned names was that of the soccer player Sofía Álvarez, who recently arrived in the local football league.

It is worth mentioning that the residence of the Mexican soccer player is located in the Besiktas district, a town located in the interior of Istanbul and close to the border with Bulgaria. In this sense, at the time of the earthquake it could have been almost 861 kilometers from the epicenter of the telluric movement and just over 600 km from the affected areas.
