Intensive search and rescue work in Syria and Turkey

As the devastating death toll continues to rise, rescue teams continue to find survivors among the rubble in Turkey and Syria following the devastating earthquake that has shaken both countries.

In Afrin, in Syria’s Aleppo province, the extensive search has turned up a girl who is shocked but alive.

In the Turkish city of Hatay, the rescue teams also obtain a similar prize, a minor who is still conscious in the rubble of her home.

Elsewhere in Turkey, hopes are rising for another life that the tremor could not end as cries for help are heard from the rubble of a building in the city of Adiyaman.

But all too often the outcome is tragic. In the city of Sarmada, in Syria, rescue teams have found the bodies of two young brothers embracing. One last snapshot of a gesture of love and despair that the earthquake paralyzed
