It is the year 1954, a decade in which women still have many rights to conquer and are subjected to a macho upbringing and education. In this context, Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies takes place, the prequel series to the seventies film starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. Paramount+ announces its upcoming release with a colorful trailer that shows a glimpse of the original choreography and songs.

Unlike the film, the new series that will come to streaming focuses solely on female protagonists: “In 1954, four years before the original Grease, before rock ‘n’ roll ruled and before the T-Birds were the best in school. It follows four jaded outcasts who dare to have fun on their own terms, sparking a moral panic that will change Rydell High forever.”

“Grease”, two films and an upcoming prequel
Paramount+ in February: “At Midnight”, “Your Honor”, “1923″ and “The Secret Barracks” among other titles
The second month of the year began and the proposals to see on the platform are renewed. These are the most relevant premieres
The musical franchise had two big-screen releases: the first and best-known with Travolta and John in 1978; and the second with Michelle Pfeiffer in 1982. The initial installment alone was enormously successful (grossing $394 million at the global box office) and became an unforgettable movie classic for its characters, brilliant choreography, and catchy themes.
The prequel will be set before these two films and promises to expand the story that was presented in the cinema, since it will take as its starting point the origin of some characters that accompanied Danny and Sandy on their romantic adventure. It is about the Pink Ladies (the pink ladies), a female group from the Rydell Institute that is characterized by going against the established rules and, in principle, does not admit the protagonist in her formation.
