FC Barcelona strengthened the lead in La Liga on Sunday. The Catalans were 3-0 too strong for Sevilla, while competitor Real Madrid dropped points. In Serie A, Internazionale won the derby against AC Milan 1-0.
With Frenkie de Jong in the base, Barcelona had a hard time with low flyer Sevilla for an hour. The home team had to deal with a downer early in the game with the injured Sergio Busquets.
His replacement Franck Kessié delivered a wonderful assist to Jordi Alba’s 1-0 in the 58th minute. Twenty minutes into the game, Gavi doubled the lead by tapping in from close range from a Raphinha cross.
Nine minutes later, Raphinha himself scored the third goal. After a beautiful pass from De Jong, Alba gave to the Brazilian, who simply hit the target.
Thanks to the victory, leader FC Barcelona now has eight points ahead of number two Real Madrid, which lost 1-0 to Real Mallorca earlier in the day.
Inter beats AC Milan without De Vrij and Dumfries
In Italy, Lautaro Martínez was crowned match winner at Inter-Milan. The Argentinian headed in eleven minutes before the break from a corner kick by Hakan Çalhanoglu.
Inter dominated the game and Milan barely came into play. The ‘Rossoneri’ only made their first attempt in the 58th minute: Olivier Giroud worked the ball over André Onana’s goal.
In the final phase, Martínez scored again, but that goal was disallowed for offside. Stefan de Vrij and Denzel Dumfries remained on the bench at Inter for the entire match.
The win keeps Inter second in the table. The ‘Nerazzurri’ are thirteen points behind leader Napoli, which won 0-3 at Spezia earlier in the day. The lead on number three AS Roma is three points. AC Milan drops to sixth place.
