The US Treasury Department has imposed sanctions on eight top officials of an Iranian drone maker as part of a new round of measures against Tehran for its alleged support for Russia and supply of unmanned aerial vehicles.
The company to which the sanctioned belong, Paravar Pars Company, was already subject to sanctions from both the United States and the European Union for manufacturing drones for the aerospace department of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, according to a statement from the Treasury Department.
Likewise, the Treasury also targeted two vessels. One of them, the Iris Makran, an oil tanker that has been used for “naval operations” and that has the capacity to launch unmanned aerial vehicles.
The sanctions this Friday also include the frigate Iris Dena, which accompanies the latter on the “international trip” it is currently making.
“Iran is supplying unmanned aerial vehicles for Russia’s combat operations to attack critical infrastructure in Ukraine,” denounced the Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, Brian Nelson.

Among those sanctioned by the US authorities is the current director and CEO of the firm, Hossein Shamsabadi, and both the chairman of its board of directors, Ali Reza Tangsiri, and its vice president, Abualfazl Nazeri.
The statement stressed that Iranian entities continue to manufacture unmanned drones for Iran and that more generally, the country supplies such aircraft to Russia for its combat operations against critical infrastructure in Ukraine.
As a result of the sanctions issued, all property and interests of the sanctioned individuals and entities in the United States will be blocked.
In addition, the United States on Tuesday added seven Iranian entities to its trade blacklist for contributing to Russia’s military efforts by assisting in the production of drones for use in Ukraine, according to a Commerce Department publication.
Las entidades son Design and Manufacturing of Aircraft Engines, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Aerospace Force, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Research and Self-Sufficiency Jihad Organization, Oje Parvaz Mado Nafar Company, Paravar Pars Company, Qods Aviation Industry y Shahed Aviation Industries.
According to the Commerce Department publication, produced Iranian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are being transferred to Russia for use in Ukraine, an activity contrary to the national security and foreign policy interests of the United States.
