EThe United States has postponed the visit of the Secretary of State Antony Blink to China after a balloon from Beijing flew over a nuclear military base in Montana.
China speaks of an error “caused by the winds” and urges a “cool head” to treat the dispute over the balloon.
Blinken understands that China has violated US sovereignty: “China’s decision to fly over the continental United States with a surveillance balloon is unacceptable and irresponsible. It is a violation of our sovereignty. It is a violation of international law.”
China has responded that they never announced any visit by Secretary of State Blinken.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China assured that if the United States has announced it, they respect it.
The ministry spokesman described the situation with the aircraft as “completely unexpected and caused by force majeure.” He stressed that the Asian giant “always respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries.”
Beijing admitted this Friday that the balloon that flies over the United States belongs to it, although it assured that “it is a civil airship used for research purposes, mainly meteorological”, and regretted “the unintentional entry” of the device into US airspace.
