The Public Prosecution Service sees that violence by minors and young adults has increased considerably in the past year, Nieuwsuur wrote this week. Although exact figures are not yet available, the possession of knives among young people and young adults seems to be increasingly common. It has also hit various places in the country in the past 24 hours.
Yesterday afternoon a 14-year-old boy was stabbed in Hilversum. The boy has been taken to hospital. His condition is stable, according to police. There is still no trace of the perpetrator or perpetrators, probably also minors.
Two people in Maastricht sustained injuries last night after “a possible stabbing incident” had taken place there, according to the police. The police are still looking for the suspect and have spread the description of a man via Burgernet because of a “criminal offence”.
In Sittard, also last night, a stabbing took place after two men got into a fight. One of them was taken to hospital with facial injuries. The man who stabbed has been arrested.
A woman in Uden was injured after she was probably stabbed in the face with a broken glass. The police immediately arrested the suspect.
Ban on knives for young people
