The police have arrested someone in the investigation into the fatal fire in Arnhem this week. The detainee, whose identity has not been disclosed, is suspected of possible involvement in the fire.
The fire broke out in De Wiltstraat in Arnhem on Tuesday morning and the fire soon spread to surrounding buildings. By noon, firefighters had the fire under control. Several homes have been declared uninhabitable.
It later turned out that two women had not survived the fire. It concerns the resident (whose age has not been disclosed) and a 51-year-old woman from Arnhem.
The exact cause of the fire is still unclear, the police emphasise. The investigation is still in progress. The suspect is in custody and being questioned.
