A baby has been abandoned in a shopping bag in the German city of Braunschweig. According to the police, a woman found the baby last Sunday evening. Yesterday the police came out with the story, also to find the person who left the baby there.
The police speak in a press release of a newborn boy who was wrapped in sheets and blankets. He had been parked in a shopper outside an apartment complex. The bag contained a note requesting that the child be taken to a so-called baby valve, a special point where people in need can anonymously leave their baby in safe hands.
The 60-year-old woman who found the child took it home and called the emergency services there. They took care of the boy. He is doing well under the circumstances.
Police have released photos of the used sheets and the shopper in an effort to find out who left the child on the street.
