The national government ruled out the possibility of reforming the Supreme Court of Justice by decree. When asked by the journalist Silvia Mercado at the usual weekly press conference headed by Gabriela Cerruti, the spokesperson replied: “The only President in this country who dared to appoint two judges by decree in the Court was Mauricio Macri and luckily the popular reaction made him back down.
The phrase alludes to the appointments of Horacio Rosatti and Carlos Rosenkrantz at the start of the Cambiemos government, in December 2015.
In the midst of the confrontation between the ruling party and the Supreme Court, several Kirchnerist referents had requested a modification of the court by decree. One of them was Senator Oscar Parrilli, a trusted man of the vice president.
