Crime of Lucio Dupuy: the boy’s mother and her partner were found guilty of aggravated homicide

(News in development) The trial for the crime of Lucio Dupuy has come to an end. Judges Alejandra Ongaro, Andrés Olié and Daniel Sáez found the baby’s mother, Magdalena Espósito Valenti, and her girlfriend, Abigaíl Páez, guilty of the crimes of aggravated homicide. For Justice there are no doubts, they are the murderers of the little boy.

Páez was also convicted of aggravated sexual abuse.

Espósito Valenti, who had also been accused of sexual abuse, was acquitted of this crime, which caused surprise in the lawsuit.

The verdict was read a few minutes after 12, without the presence of the defendants, who decided to follow the reading of the ruling from the jail where they are staying in San Luis. As soon as they heard the sentence, they stood up and left the room where they were located.

At the gate of the courts there was a large demonstration that celebrated the ruling after being pronounced inside the courtroom. In the place was Cristian Dupuy, Lucio’s father, his uncles and also his paternal grandparents, Ramón and Silvia.

Although the foundations of the ruling will be known shortly, there is some fundamental evidence that allowed the magistrates to make the decision to sentence the defendants. The autopsy, the chats between them and the word of the witnesses.

The most important, perhaps, of the evidence presented at the trial was the autopsy. It was exposed by Juan Carlos Toulouse, the doctor who carried out the study of Lucio’s body, in the fourth hearing of the oral debate.

Before the magistrates, Toulouse reaffirmed that the child died from a “fierce beating” and that he had “injuries in various parts of the body,” according to judicial sources.

He assured that he had been the victim of “recent and long-standing” sexual abuse, at the same time that he presented “a strong blow that affected his hip, gluteus and leg, with a date of 7 to 8 days.”

“There was a specific attack that caused his death,” according to the autopsy presented in the case. Lucio died from internal bleeding caused by a beating. In addition to the signs of abuse, he presented burns and bites.

The forensic document also showed that, like Fernando Baéz Sosa, Lucio had the sole of a shoe marked on his back. Thanks to a scopometric expertise, it was determined that the footwear belonged to Abigaíl Páez, his mother’s girlfriend.

“Abigail Páez stepped on his little back with such force that, probably, his heart burst along with different organs,” revealed the doctors who spoke at the trial.

At the door of the courts there was a massive mobilization demanding justice

As revealed by Infobae, the conversations that the defendants had, among them, through WhatsApp in the months prior to the murder became essential evidence. Basically because there they recounted the punishments that were given to the baby.

“Don’t let your hand go, we’re going to send a shit,” was one of the messages that Lucio’s mother sent to his girlfriend when there were a few days left before the murder. “I’m fed up. I have to spend all day with this asshole”, was a common response from Abigaíl Páez.

Before an episode, from October 2021, in which Lucio vomited, the defendants spoke among themselves about the punishment that was applied to the baby. “How did you hit him? It’s already been two times that he vomits ”. After that, the mother’s girlfriend wrote: “I don’t even want to see Lucio because he makes my life bitter.”

Although there were more than a hundred witnesses who passed through the courtroom, including Lucio’s father and grandparents, there were some stories that drew a lot of attention because they revealed, even more, the horror to which the child was subjected.

On the one hand, a neighbor said that she heard the beatings, that she called the police and no one did anything and that, one day, she heard the defendants say to each other: “Take off his clothes and beat him up, mark him because I’ll kill him.” ”.

On the other hand, the mothers of Lucio’s friends told how they were amazed, every time the victim was invited to lunch, by the amount of food he ate. “That happened because Lucio was hungry. In addition to everything they did to him, they did not give him food,” said the Dupuy lawyer, José Mario Aguerrido.

It is clear that in the file, and in the trial that ended today, there is more evidence. Some horrifying, such as the injuries compatible with sexual abuse and Lucio’s DNA in the sex toy of his mother and his girlfriend. All this accumulation of evidence led the judges to make their final decision.
