The unions claimed Tuesday, January 31 an increase in mobilization in the demonstrations.
In Paris, at the time of our closure, the CGT put forward the figure of 500,000 participants. On January 19, the union had announced 400,000 people, against 80,000 according to the Ministry of the Interior.
The police counted 40,000 demonstrators in Marseille (against 26,000 on the 19th), 14,000 demonstrators in Rouen (against 13,000), 12,000 in Le Havre (11,000), 28,000 in Nantes (25,000).
Once again, mobilization was strong in medium-sized towns with 5,500 demonstrators in Boulogne-sur-Mer (Pas-de-Calais), 7,000 in Alès (Gard) or 8,500 in Angoulême (Charente).
