Sc Heerenveen attracted Jeffrey Bruma on Monday. The 31-year-old defender comes over from the Turkish Kasimpasa and has been brought in as a replacement for the injured Sven van Beek.
Bruma returns with the transfer to the Eredivisie, where he played for PSV between 2013 and 2016. In Eindhoven he became national champion in the 2014/2015 season and in 2015/2016.
After his PSV time, the 25-time international played for VfL Wolfsburg, Schalke 04, FSV Mainz 05 and the Turkish Kasimpasa, where he still had a contract until the end of this season. Bruma had ended up on the sidelines with the number fourteen of the Turkish league.
“After Sven van Beek’s injury, we wanted to strengthen ourselves with an extra central defender,” says technical manager Ferry de Haan. “We are very happy that we have now found this reinforcement in Jeffrey. With him we add a very experienced defender to our selection for the rest of the season.”
The 28-year-old Van Beek has been out of circulation for months due to a serious Achilles tendon injury, which he sustained more than two weeks ago in the Eredivisie match against RKC Waalwijk.
Sc Heerenveen is having a solid season. The team of trainer Kees van Wonderen, who lost 1-3 to Vitesse on Sunday, is in eighth place in the Eredivisie. The Frisians are busy on the transfer market, because earlier in the day the transfer of millions from Amin Sarr to Olympique Lyonnais was finalized.
