Mexican motorsports is in mourning, on the morning of Monday, January 30, the death of Federico Gutiérrez Hoppe, a 17-year-old driver who ran in the Nascar Mexico Series and who was considered one of the promises of motorsports in the country to have an extensive track record.

It was through social networks that the official Nascar Mexico account announced the death of Fico, as he was also known in motorsports. In a brief message they dedicated a few words of encouragement and consolation to the runner’s family for the loss, thus they fired the pilot:

“NASCAR México Series joins the grief of the Family, Gutiérrez, for the departure of our driver and friend Federico Gutiérrez Hoppe,” wrote Nascar México.

For its part, the Mexican Automobile Organization (OMDAI) also mourned the death of the pilot who came from the talents of the Telmex Nascar team.

“We regret the death of Federico Gutiérrez Hoppe and we join the pain of his family and the entire sports community. Early resignation to his family and loved ones. QDEP,” he wrote.

Federico Gutiérrez died between the night of Sunday, January 29, and the early morning of Monday, January 30, in a car accident. Different reports indicated that Fico had an accident along with his brother, Max, both were traveling in a luxurious car on the Toluca-Valle de Bravo highway.

Until now, Max Gutiérrez is reported to be stable, who was transferred to a hospital in the State of Mexico for evaluation after the car incident.

During the pre-election period, the then presidential candidate, Federico Gutiérrez, assured that Piedad Córdoba, among other members of the Historical Pact, was harassing him, attacking him, and discrediting his campaign.

The two Nascar drivers were traveling in a yellow Porsche Boxster model when the accident occurred. According to the version of the emergency elements that attended the place, the luxury vehicle in which the brothers were traveling collided with a private black Ford-type van, in which three adults were traveling.

On impact, Federico Gutiérrez was behind the wheel of the vehicle, for which he died instantly. When the elements of the Red Cross and Edomex security arrived at the scene to attend to the wounded, they confirmed that the pilot died instantly. He was the only fatality in the accident.

While the other injured, an 80-year-old man, a 65-year-old woman and a woman over 40 were traveling in the truck, who was trapped in the car, for which civil protection elements and paramedics worked to help her and transfer her to the hospital. Valle de Bravo General Hospital.

The Mexican authorities have not released more information about the mishap that claimed the life of the young pilot, nor is the exact circumstances that caused both vehicles to collide —apparently— head-on.

In the images circulating on social networks, it can be seen that Fico Gutiérrez’s vehicle was the one that was most affected, since the front part was destroyed, while the truck only had minor damage on the right side.
