The Spanish poet and writer Elvira Sastre arrives in Argentina with the tour I don’t want to be a memory. It will be presented at the Teatro Ópera Orbis in Buenos Aires on Saturday, May 6 and then at the Quality Theater in Córdoba (May 11) and Plataforma Lavardén in Rosario (May 12). This will be her third visit to the country, after making three presentations at the Siranush room in Buenos Aires in 2018, the Astral Theater in Buenos Aires, the Quality Theater (Córdoba) and Plataforma Lavardén (Rosario) in 2019, and as a guest at the Congress of La Lengua 2019 together with Joaquín Sabina.

Elvira Sastre, in her new show, takes poetry to a stage where it has rarely been and dresses it in such a way that whoever comes to see and listen to it cannot leave indifferent, since they are contemplating something unprecedented for the first time. Poetry is felt, enjoyed, cried, but it can also be sung, danced and laughed at. These are just some of the emotions that the poet gets in her audience. From the purest acoustic to the mixture of electronic melodies, distortions in the voice, recordings in the middle of other poems, musical references of all kinds of genres and voices in silence. Together with her musician, Manu Míguez, Sastre offers a show that is difficult to define.

I don’t want to be a memory is not a recital or a concert by a musician: it is an explosion of two arts that, without limits, conspire in favor of a spectator who, yearning and willing, always leaves the show being someone else. Who is Elvira Sastre?

Spanish writer, translator and philologist, Elvira Sastre was born in the city of Segovia, Spain, in 1992. Her interest in reading and writing began at a very young age, and during her adolescence she began to make herself known in the literary world thanks to the personal blog Clocks and memories. After settling in Madrid to study English Studies and later a master’s degree in literary translation, the Segovian author began to frequent the poetic circuits of the capital, participating in various initiatives that combined various artistic disciplines, such as music or painting, with poetry. .

Elvira Sastre is 31 years old, with poems, novels and even published records

Among his most outstanding works are the collections of poems Cuarenta y tres maneras de soltar el pelo, Ya nadie baila, Baluarte or Acualírica, which mixes poems and illustrations by Adriana Moragues, among many others. He has also translated poetic works by authors such as Gordon E. McNeer and Oscar Wilde.

In February 2019, he won the Seix Barral Brief Library award, with his first novel Días sin ti. That same year, he presented Desordenados, at the Wizink Center stadium in Madrid, together with the singer-songwriter Andrés Suárez, and more than four thousand people came to see this collaborative work in which they mixed poems and songs to demonstrate that stadiums can be filled with the poetry.

Elvira Sastre published her first album, Elvira en voz, in 2020, in which she opts for a musical format for her poems. Her second poetic-musical work, No one will know our history anymore, is from 2022.
