The Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences of the Public Ministry carried out this Sunday, January 29, the autopsy examination corresponding to the body of Víctor Raúl Santisteban Yacsavilca, who died the day before in the midst of protests in Lima.
Prosecutor’s Office launched 11 investigations into 54 deaths in anti-government protests
The Prosecutor’s Office also ordered the initiation of 18 investigations for personal injuries, as well as the opening of 105 tax files to investigate those who allegedly committed crimes of resistance to authority.
The autopsy certificate states that the cause of death of the 55-year-old man is “contusion and laceration of the brain, skull fracture and severe head trauma.” According to what was determined by the doctor who evaluated the body, this was caused by a “hard blunt element.”
Around the death of Santisteban Yacsavilca, a series of contradictions and suspicions have been woven that began with the statements issued by the Ministry of the Interior and EsSalud, where first one thing was said and then another.

In its first statement, EsSalud said: “We regret to report the death of the adult with the initials VRSY, polycontusion and severe head injury (TEC), our staff did everything possible to save his life.”
PNP clarifies that troops will wear a uniform or badge in protest areas, despite a provision that prohibits it
According to a journalistic report, the measure was taken to prevent the agents from being “victims of retention or aggression.” However, the institution clarified that they will wear the regulatory uniform
Almost an hour later, the health institution stated: “The patient was admitted to the Grau Emergency Hospital in poor general condition with a disorder of consciousness, presenting a sharp blunt wound in the right retroauricular region (behind the ear) as a result of a blow.”
