The Future Care Lab’s most startling creation so far looks like a small, pastel-colored spaceship that’s actually a shower.
To eliminate the risk of falls from traditional showers or the complexity of giving a bath, the resident is laid down in a chair and slid into the vessel. The employee can then clean it with a shower head.
For Saori Haga, technology should not replace human contact. Employees will always be needed to help with feeding or washing. The idea is rather to simplify and lighten the peripheral tasks, she underlines.
