During the last days, the Minister of Mines and Energy, Irene Vélez, and the Minister of Health, Carolina Corcho, have been involved in different controversies because the information they have given about the data has been questioned by experts. In this sense, even some politicians and citizens have expressed their disagreement with the management of both officials, for which reason senior government officials have come out in defense of the work of both portfolio leaders.

In his publication, unlike others, Márquez received different comments from Internet users that emphasized the mistakes they are making in their management: “They may lead that, but they have no idea of ​​the positions they hold. Petro should do, as with Vero’s friend, look for a position that fits her duties, because these ministries were too big for them and I’m not talking about gender ”; “The Government of Change must be a guarantor of democratic debate and cannot turn political criticism into a supposed political persecution. Or is it that now we demonize what we used to practice before?”; “That minister of mines does not even know where she is standing,” some citizens noted on social networks.

Let us remember that as for Vélez, since he began his administration, he has been criticized by politicians and experts who consider that he does not have the experience or knowledge to hold the position; It is important to mention that before she had no relationship with public office, like the vice president, the experience of the Minister of Mines is focused on the leadership of environmental protection and comes from the movement I am because we are.

However, his management has opposition even within the Historical Pact itself and its officials; and it increased due to the delivery of the “Balance of hydrocarbon contracts and resources available for the Just Energy Transition”, which was highly criticized for the information developed in the document where it ensures that Colombia would have gas and oil reserves until 2037; and that it was marked by different people, including the former Minister of Mines, Belizza Ruiz, who later assured that she was never part of the construction of the document and that she agrees with the experts that the figures do not coincide with the real ones.

“It is impossible to express disagreement with a document that is not known. I knew the document in its entirety when it was published on Twitter (…) it is not possible for me to analyze or question something that was not presented in advance and never went through my office,” Ruiz explained in an interview with Snail Radio.

For her part, Carolina Corcho, went through a similar situation at the beginning of 2023, when she presented the indebtedness figures of the EPS together with Ulahy Beltrán, Superintendent of Health and was disappointed, since initially she assured that the service providers had a debt of 49.1 billion pesos and then went out to correct the figure that would be half of what was initially raised, 27 billion pesos. For some, the foregoing would warrant her resignation, since they have classified it as a lack of rigor on the part of the Health portfolio.

The document is also being analyzed by the Ministry of Finance and the DNP. The project will be presented in February to the Congress of the Republic, according to Carlina Corcho.

Let us remember that since Corcho’s appointment, different sectors have spoken out against his vision of the system and the possible modifications that he is promoting, in addition, that many would disagree, well, when he served as director of Social Participation in the Ministry of Health of Bogota the opposition sectors were not satisfied.
