Video of fatal beating of African American released

Memphis police have released video of a fatal beating of an African American by five black police officers.

The video is divided into four different sequences (…) the initial (road) check, the one near the house of Tire Nichols and the handheld camera of several people on the spot.

The five police officers involved in this case have all been fired and charged with murder.

Memphis braces for protests

The authorities expect demonstrations in the streets in reaction to the publication of this video, described as “appalling”.

In the streets of downtown Memphis, police patrolled on horseback.

President Joe Biden and the Nichols family have also called for the gatherings to be “peaceful”.
