At least seven people were killed Friday night in an attack that targeted a synagogue in East Jerusalem during early Shabbat prayers, an Israel Police spokesman said. The assailant had been “neutralized”.
The shooting took place near a synagogue in the Neve Yaakov neighborhood, populated by Jewish settlers in East Jerusalem, part of the Holy City annexed by Israel.
The fire was opened around 8:30 p.m. local time (6:30 p.m. in France). The latest police report does not indicate whether the assailant is one of the seven victims.
“A terrorist arrived at a synagogue on Neve Yaakov Boulevard in Jerusalem and shot several people in the area,” police detailed in a tweet.
