200 police officers in southern Peru

The home of Luis Otsuka, regional governor of Madre de Dios, was completely destroyed by the protesters, as was his car.

The Minister of the Interior, Jorge Chávez, stated that in the next few hours the PNP and the Armed Forces will begin to unblock highways in several southern regions.
“We are going to proceed in the next few hours to carry out actions complying with the protocols and the corresponding legal actions because we all know that the interruption of a highway is a crime,” said the head of the Interior at an event in Callao where he was with President Dina Boluarte.
Queues due to blockade of the Central Highway
After the Central Highway in La Oroya (Junín) was closed as part of the protests, there are long lines that reach Chaclacayo in Lima. Since morning hours there have been several private cars and heavy-duty trucks that have been detained.

Ombudsman’s Report
The Ombudsman’s Office published its latest report on the protests: 57 dead and 1,658 injured, including civilians and police.
