The state of Michoacán is currently disputed by various criminal organizations, such as the Familia Michoacana, Cárteles Unidos and the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG). Recently, a probable hit man from this last structure was arrested by the Sedena in Aguililla, the town where Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes was born.
After a brief pursuit, the alleged criminal was intercepted by military personnel and, upon inspecting his belongings, a vest was found that evidenced his criminal affiliation.

Other weapons objects that Sedena assured the member of the Delta Group, whose identity was kept confidential, were two long weapons, eight magazines and 233 useful cartridges.
The Delta Group has been in charge of leading high-impact actions of the CJNG in Jalisco. This faction, for example, has been identified as responsible for the murder of former governor Aristóteles Sandoval in 2020. The former official himself had reported threats against him by the four-letter cartel.
The first time the existence of the Delta Group was recognized by the government was in September 2018, when the Jalisco prosecutor at the time, Marisela Gómez, announced the capture of four of its members. Since then, this cell has increased its violence not only in the Jalisco metropolitan area, but also in Michoacán.
