The Personal Data Protection Act 2018 sets 13 as the minimum age for registering on a social network. Up to the age of 15, this registration can only be done with the authorization of the parents.
In a recommendation of June 9, 2021, the National Commission for Computing and Liberties (CNIL) considers that minors must be able to directly exercise the rights relating to their personal data on social networks, gaming and video sharing platforms.
The law of March 2, 2022 requires the installation of parental control by default on all internet-connected devices. In schools, Internet filtering has been mandatory since 2004.
