Ulises Lara López, spokesman for the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office (FGJ-CDMX), reported that María Ángela, who was reported missing near the location of the Indios Verdes station of the Metro Collective Transportation System (STC) , he went away on his own account.

He assured that after the investigations of the specialized agents, they determined with the help of the recordings of the video surveillance cameras, interviews, expert opinions, social networks and field trips, that the 16-year-old girl was not kidnapped as previously stated to root statements of the victim herself.

Elements of the Missing Persons Prosecutor’s Office, Investigative Police (PDI) agents, ministerial personnel, experts, the Special Search, Reaction and Intervention Group, GERI and the local search commission participated in reaching this conclusion.

The capital’s president, Claudia Sheinbaum, indicated that she will also require the intervention of the Government of the State of Mexico to reinforce the whereabouts of Indios Verdes
According to the report by the spokesperson for the Prosecutor’s Office, with information gathered from various sources, María Ángela was absent on her own from the day she left the Indios Verdes whereabouts and until she was located in the municipality of Nezahualcoyotl, State of Mexico.
Supposedly, after the young woman left her mother, she arrived at a camp located in the Palace of Fine Arts, in the capital’s Historic Center, where she was supported by the people of that site.

Subsequently, she would have gone with some of these citizens to an address located in Nezahualcóyotl and would have accompanied them to carry out their tasks, she was even seen doing some errands independently.

However, because her search became publicized and highly commented on social networks, those who were with her recognized her and alerted the authorities to her whereabouts.
Supposedly, after she found out that they had reported where she was again, she disappeared on her own. Subsequently, the authorities would have found her lying in the streets of Nezahualcóyotl.
Upon completing the health examinations, the authorities verified that she was in good condition and was handed over to her relatives.
In the first interviews conducted with María Ángela, she said that she felt a picket in the vicinity of the Indios Verdes station and that when she was waiting for her mother she lost consciousness.

She recalled that the next thing she knew was that she was being transported in a van along with other women who were handcuffed, as well as that they had cut her hair and threatened that they were going to “put her to work.”
After these statements that reached the media, the public expressed concern about the existence of a possible gang of kidnappers or traffickers that resided in the north of the capital and that captured its victims in the Metro; however, the Prosecutor’s Office declared on January 23 that they were not aware of any gang dedicated to this type of crime in the area.
The official reiterated that the authorities have no record of disappearances in the region of the capital or near the vicinity of the Metro, for which reason he called on the public not to believe unofficial information.
