It is not only at the PS that we recount the votes. On the side of the majority too, we count and we recount. Except that at the PS we recount after the vote. While in the majority, it is before. Before the vote on the law on pension reform, which, casually, is advancing rapidly. Until recently, the government was playing it zen: following an agreement with Éric Ciotti, the boss of LR, the right-wing deputies, in their vast majority, were going to mingle their votes with those of the majority. It was signed, folded, no worries. Except that it appears more and more that there is water in the gas. Part of the majority would be ready to vote against. And, according to the latest counts, the majority of LR deputies too.
Result: on the day of the vote, there would be no majority. At all. And that, for the government, would be really annoying. So we count, we recount, we re-count. If it is, it will be played with one voice. One can imagine the stress in high places. Because taking out 49.3 for the flagship reform of the second five-year term, let’s say that it wouldn’t do well. Maybe it’s time to think about what really matters. In life, I mean. And what counts is not only the votes that are counted. But the path we choose. We, France. Ouh there, right away the big words. Yes. The great story that carries us, the tale that brings us together. What matters is the story. And we can say: the tale is good.
